The preseason Coaches’ Poll has come out and right now the Texas A&M Aggies are currently ranked seventh among coaches around the NCAA. Starting 2022 just one slot down from where they started the season in 2021 is a good sign that coaches still see the talent on this roster and like it enough to give them another high ranking. Now for the other side of the coin for these players, they have another tough schedule and if they want to improve and get Jimbo Fisher over into double-digit wins territory, they are going to need to pull off some tough wins in order to do it.

They have the talent to get the job done against most teams, but they are really going to need to dig deep to beat the teams on this list. If they are able to go 2-2 against these four teams, I would consider this a win for the Aggies. It would also improve their standing when it comes to bowl games and possibly the NCAA football playoffs. But before we get ahead of ourselves let’s take a look at four of the most important football games on the Aggies 2022 schedule, going in order of their Coaches’ Poll rankings.

Alabama (Coaches Poll Ranking #1)

2021 Offensive Ranking: 6th

2021 Defensive Ranking: 18th

When you think college football, the first team that comes to mind will always be the Nick Saban-led Alabama Crimson Tide. This time around, this Alabama team will be out for revenge after their upset loss to the Aggies last season. While it didn’t do much damage to their chances at making the College Football Playoffs, you know Saban is going to have this team chomping at the bit to get this win. The Aggies, if they want to make a statement, will need to come out and beat an always loaded Crimson Tide team.

If they want to do that, they are going to need strong quarterback play from whoever Fisher decides to name as their starter. They will also need to have one of their best defensive games of the season against Alabama, who has talent at running back and wide receiver and will not hesitate to blowout teams to show their dominance. This is hands down their most important game of the season because if they are able to win, that win will have a major effect on their chances at a playoff berth.
