Texas A&M Football: 5 Aggies that could be 2023 NFL Draft picks
The Texas A&M football team has had a knack of sending talent to the NFL in recent history. Over the past five NFL Drafts, the Aggies have had 20 players selected by NFL teams, including a first-round selection in Kenyon Green this year. Of course, 2017 was a great year for Aggie draft selections, highlighted by No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett.
This 2022 Texas A&M football team is filled with talent from top to bottom.
It was fairly difficult to narrow it down to five players for this list, rather than coming up with five. Since that was the case, I figured I would throw in an honorable mention as well. In this list, I have players in ascending order based on the probability that they will be drafted this upcoming season.
For the honorable mention, I have safety Demani Richardson. It was very difficult for me to choose between Richardson and the player at number five for their respective spots, as they can jump one another throughout the season, I just feel Richardson’s range of outcomes is wider than the player at five.
Richardson enjoyed a solid 2021 campaign after breaking out in 2020. At this point, Richardson is going into his fourth season as a starter. Last season, he totaled 34 tackles, one interception, one pass deflection, and a respectable 70.4 PFF defense grade.
Richardson can be appealing to NFL scouts due to his experience in many different roles in a defense, playing single-high, in the slot, and in the box. He’s a solid tackler and has good instincts in anticipating routes. He could be a high-floor selection worth taking in Day 3 at this point in time.
