Texas A&M Football: Defensive end depth

Starters: Tunmise Adeleye (RS FR), Fadil Diggs (RS SO)

Backups: Shemar Stewart (FR), Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (FR)

Reserves: Anthony Lucas (FR), Enai White (FR), Elijah Jeudy (RS FR)

This team has some uncertainty when it comes to its defensive line starters, however there is no question that it has some crazy potential. Durkin and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson both have a lot to work with here and it should be difficult to figure out who should get the majority of the snaps this season.

For the starters, I expect them to go with “experience” at the defensive end spots. I say “experience” because Tunmise Adeleye is going into his second season but never saw the field in year one. Meanwhile, opposite of Adeleye I have redshirt sophomore Fadil Diggs. Even Diggs has only seen 157 snaps in his career, but last season in 142 snaps, he looked pretty good against the run.

For the backup spots, I expect the roles to be filled by elite five-star recruits Shemar Stewart and Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy. Both of these prospects should come in and compete for the starting spots, but I believe they will be first ones off the bench.

Meanwhile, the reserves are full of untapped potential in freshmen Anthony Lucas and Enai White, along with redshirt freshman Elijah Jeudy. Each of these players have the chance to push for playing time, with the most likely being Jeudy, but I expect them to use this chance to get better in practice and bulk up over the season.
