Week 1 of the NFL preseason is now officially in the books and Texas A&M football left their mark. Over the past four draft classes, the Aggies have produced 15 players who received snaps in the first week of the preseason.

Of course, the hottest names out there are recent draft picks Kenyon Green, Isaiah Spiller, DeMarvin Leal, and Micheal Clemons, however, there are many others that produced in the first week of action.

Here is a list of recent Texas A&M football players and their stats in preseason Week 1:

  • 2022 Draft Class
DE Micheal Clemons (NYJ) – 4 tackles, 1 sack
G Kenyon Green (HOU) – DNP
IDL DeMarvin Leal (PIT) – 2 tackles, 1 QB hit
IDL Jayden Peevy (BAL) – 2 pass deflections
RB Isaiah Spiller (LAC) – 10 rushes, 34 rushing yards, 1 catch, 10 receiving yards
  • 2021 Draft Class
IDL Bobby Brown III (LAR) – 2 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL
T Carson Green (TEN) – 72.6 pass blocking grade by PFF
LB Anthony Hines III (LAR) – 6 tackles
LB Buddy Johnson (PIT) – 7 tackles
C Ryan McCollum (DET) – 73.4 pass blocking grade by PFF
QB Kellen Mond (MIN) – 9/14, 119 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 3 rushes, 7 rushing yards, 130.7 passer rating
T Dan Moore Jr. (PIT) – 84.4 run blocking grade by PFF, allowed strip sack
  • 2019 Draft Class
TE Jace Sternberger (PIT) – 2 catches, 20 receiving yards
G Keaton Sutherland (SF) – 64.5 pass blocking grade by PFF
RB Trayveon Williams (CIN) – 6 rushes, 14 rushing yards, 1 catch, 12 receiving yards

If we had to give out an MVP award to one of these players, it is most certainly Kellen Mond. He looked sharp in his season debut and nearly led a comeback win against the Raiders Sunday night.

For the 2022 class, the 15th overall pick Kenyon Green wasn’t a participant due to an undisclosed injury. Running back Isaiah Spiller showed flashes in his touches this past weekend. On the defensive side, Clemons, Peevy, and Leal all had good first weeks.

Other highlights include 2021 fourth-round picks Dan Moore Jr., who looked like a stud in pass protection aside from a strip sack against Boye Mafe, and Bobby Brown III who recorded a sack for the Rams. Former Aggie linbackers Anthony Hines III and Buddy Johnson also recorded 6 and 7 tackles respectively. The other offensive linemen, Carson Green and Ryan McCollum also looked good in pass protection.

The 2019 class even showed some good things this weekend. Former one-year wonder tight end Jace Sternberger had a decent outing in limited snaps. Meanwhile, running back Trayveon Williams had a flash in the passing game but struggled on the ground. Sutherland struggled a bit on the day, but he, as all the others, now have something to build off of in a busy Week 1 for former Aggies.
