Texas A&M Football: Aggies among top-5 in college football ticket sales
Texas A&M football seems to have a knack of ranking high in things these days. First, it was announced that they placed 6th in the first coaches’ poll of the year. Then, the AP poll was released, which has them starting off the season at No. 5.
According to exclusive data released by StubHub, the Aggies are 5th in the entire NCAA in cumulative game ticket sales. Ohio State takes the cake at No. 1, followed by Alabama, Texas, Georgia, and then Texas A&M.
The SEC has racked up the biggest chunk of ticket sales thus far, accounting for 39% of all sales through August 12th. To be this high in ticket sales so far is a big deal for the football program. Being able to further build their brand to this point to hang with schools like OSU, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Michigan will be appealing to recruits especially.
The Aggies also have a game among the top-10 in ticket sales as well. It should not come as a surprise that the October 8th game against the Crimson Tide ranks within the top-10 in the NCAA. In fact, the game comes 3rd, behind only Alabama’s game versus Texas and Notre Dame at Ohio State.
It’s no doubt that some of these games in specific on the Aggies’ schedule attribute to their high standing. A ranked home bout against Miami should do numbers as the team’s first high-profile match of the season. The opening of conference play the week after with a home game against Arkansas should be huge for ticket sales as well.
This upcoming season, the Aggies will be on everybody’s radar. Whether it be NFL teams looking for their future stars, or the common college football fan seeing if Jimbo Fisher can finally cross that 10-win mark. All eyes are geared towards College Station, and it is now up to Texas A&M to deliver.
