Texas A&M football has recruited and built great depth on its roster, but will they win impressively enough to persuade the College Football Playoff Committee?

In 2020, A&M missed the College Football Playoffs by one place when they went 9-1 during an all-SEC schedule. It was a weird year in many ways and one that the Aggies felt burned by playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. It seemed to come down to style points and how A&M lost its only game of the season in disappointing fashion, 24-52 to Alabama, the eventual national champions.

This is a stark reminder that A&M can go 11-1 in 2022 but style points matter if the Aggies want a shot at the College Football Playoffs. A&M needs to have several impressive wins over top 25 opponents, and if they lose a game, they can’t afford a lopsided loss. Alabama will have revenge on their mind October 8th in Tuscaloosa, and the Aggies better come ready to defend their reputation on what could be the showdown of the season.
