The hype is getting real for Texas A&M football. With many All-Conference caliber players on the roster, the Aggies are receiving a lot of attention in terms of preseason honors, awards, and All-team selections.
Early last week, Pro Football Focus released their 2022 College Preseason All-SEC Team. Devon Achane, Layden Robinson, Bryce Foster, Antonio Johnson, and Nik Constantinou all received first-team selections. The Aggies, Alabama, and Georgia were tied with the most first-team selections with five each.
One Aggie made the second-team in Reuben Fatheree II. Ainias Smith received third-team honors as both a receiver and a kick and punt returner. PFF also gave honorable mentions to defensive backs Demani Richardson and Tyreek Chappell.
This Texas A&M football team has talent to compete in the SEC with 10 All-SEC selections from PFF.
College football recruiting website On3 released their 2022 Preseason True-Freshman All-American Team on Tuesday, which included a team-high three Aggies. Five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart, four-star tight end Jake Johnson, and five-star defensive lineman Walter Nolen all received selections.

If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, CBS Sports and 247sports collaborated again this year to give their version of the 2022 Preseason All-American first and second-teams.
No Aggies were selected for the second-team, however, two players were given first-team honors. Defensive back Antonio Johnson was selected as one of three first-team DBs, and Ainias Smith was selected as the first-team punt returner.
If it wasn’t clear before, it is clear now. This A&M team is stacked at multiple positions and in multiple ways, for now, and for the future. Having 10 PFF All-SEC selections, three On3 All-Freshmen, and two CBS/247sports All-Americans certainly give the sense that this team is destined for a big season.
