Texas A&M Football: Game-by-game predictions for the 2022 season
This Mississippi State Bulldogs will be the first away game for the Aggies. This stretch of games between Weeks 4-6 is a very crucial one. In case you don’t remember, MSU picked up a big win against the Aggies last season, and now they will want revenge.
Texas A&M and Mississippi State has had a very good rivalry since the Aggies joined the SEC. Over the past 10 matchups, they are at an even split of 5-5 against each other.
The Bulldogs bring back a lot of starters, the most in the SEC for that matter. They will be a very tough matchup, and emotions will be running high. Will Rogers will captain a potentially very high-powered offense, however, their defense lost a key member of their linebacker corps in Aaron Brule, and their pass rush leaves much to be desired.
This matchup will be one that comes down to if one defense steps up. The Aggie defense should be at full force by this point, and I expect them to force Rogers to make some key mistakes that will give the Aggies the victory, making them 5-0 going into Tuscaloosa.
Prediction: #6 Texas A&M 28, Mississippi State 17
Here’s the big kahuna, a road matchup against the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. Winning in Bryant-Denny Stadium is one of the most difficult things to do in sports, unless you’re Alabama, and the Aggies have that task this season.
Texas A&M had a huge win against the Crimson Tide last season, winning it 41-38. It was a statement win. A program win. A legendary win for the Aggies, even. However, the buck stops here.
Alabama is just far too talented to not beat everyone in their path en route to another national championship appearance. The Aggies will come into this game fired up, and perhaps the adrenaline from starting 5-0 will make this game closer than it should be, but I expect the Aggies to drop this one, making them 5-1 going into Week 7.
Prediction: #6 Texas A&M 20, #1 Alabama 38
