The time has come for Texas A&M football to kick off their 2022 season, a season that has high hopes for an Aggies team that had its season derailed early with the injury to their starting quarterback Haynes King.

While they aren’t taking on a powerhouse in the college football world, they are facing a team that has won an FCS national title and has had multiple 10-win seasons under their belt in Sam Houston State. We know this hungry Aggies football team is not going to overlook this team and for good reason with some of the defensive talent on their roster.

The Bearkats have talent at linebacker in Trevor Williams and Markel Perry, who are very capable of disrupting the Aggies’ running game led by junior Devon Achane. They also have secondary help that could make things difficult for King in the passing game with new starting cornerback Kameryn Alexander and safety BJ Foster who transferred from Texas to the Bearkats.

With all that being said, though, I still have the Aggies winning this game pretty easily. The amount of talent on this roster will be enough to overwhelm a Bearkats team entering the FBS soiree.

They are going to get a first-hand account of what it’s going to take to beat a team some see as a possible College Football Playoff team. The Aggies will be stronger in the trenches on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football. Pair that with their talent in the secondary and firepower on offense, they will run the score up on the Bearkats quickly.

It will be good to have King get his confidence back early and this defense should be able to hold the Bearkats to 10 or fewer points for the game. Early wins are always best for the overall team morale and I have the Aggies taking this one no problem.

Game Prediction: Texas A&M Aggies 56, Sam Houston State Bearkats 10
