The Texas A&M defensive prowess

Even with a new defensive coordinator in DJ Durkin, the Aggie defense figures to be the strength of the team in 2022.  An experienced secondary and talented but young DL group bookend the unit, and I expect both to make an impact this Saturday.  I’m keeping my eye on Shemar Turner and Tunmise Adeleye to make some noise up front.  As far as the back end, I foresee Demani Richardson, Antonio Johnson, and company making life hard on the SHSU passing attack.

The Bearkats ran a remarkably balanced offense last year, averaging 228.2 rushing yards on nearly 40 attempts per game and 262.7 passing yards on 35.5 attempts per game.  They do bring in a new OC in John Perry (previously a TE then WR coach for the Texans).  As a first-time OC, it’s hard to know what to expect out of him, but with a background in the pass game, I would expect more of an emphasis on slinging it around.  This would give the highly-touted Aggie secondary quite the opportunity to make a statement early in this 2022 season.

What do you think? What are your keys to victory for the Aggies against the Bearkats? Let me know down below what your thoughts are.
