TAKE: The offensive line will improve

After what can only be described as a less-than-ideal start to the run game last Saturday, the OL play against Sam Houston’s front was widely maligned. Devon Achane is someone who many Aggie fans thought in the preseason could compete for the Heisman trophy this year – why, then, going into the half did he only have 8 carries for a paltry 8 yards?

This was addressed directly by the play of the team coming out of the half – the first drive after the long weather delay featured 10 running plays, eventually culminating in the day’s only rushing TD for the Ags. Not only did this drive feature improved performance by the guys up front, but it was sustained and methodical.

With this in mind, I feel confident in saying that the offensive line will be taking big steps forward over the next few games. Improved communication will come with experience, and experience itself will get a boost once former Freshman All-American Bryce Foster returns to the lineup – which will hopefully be in short order. All that said, I will be rating this take WIRED.
