Texas A&M football won 31-0 against Sam Houston State and are looking to continue that momentum into Week 2 against the Mountaineers. There are four key areas that Texas A&M needs to address to see improvements against a talented Appalachian State football team. Let’s get ready for Week 2 and review what to watch for as the Aggies take the field this Saturday.

Haynes King

Quarterback Haynes King threw for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns, keeping the chains moving even when the run game was not working. The question this week will be: can King clean up his interceptions against Appalachian State?

The sophomore quarterback threw 2 interceptions against Sam Houston State and both could have been avoided. I think some A&M fans are still in wait-and-see mode with King because of those turnovers.

This would be a good time for him to prove he can play a clean game before going into the big match against Miami in Week 3. There is no doubt that QB1 has the big play ability that the Aggies were missing last year, but all eyes will be watching to see if he can protect the football better and limit his mistakes against Appalachian State.
