Texas A&M Football: Report card for Week 2 loss to Appalachian State
Defense
You can’t really blame this Aggies’ defense for losing this game to Appalachian State because when your offense is ineffective and can’t stay on the field, your defense will eventually get worn down. That was the exact situation this stout Aggie defense was faced with and it showed, as time wore on they showed signs of being gassed, 41-plus minutes on the field can do that to you. That amount of time on the field allowed the Mountaineers to run the ball at will against this tired defensive line.
Now all the blame will not go strictly on the offense, going into this game the Aggies’ defenders had to know coming in that the Mountaineers’ main focus on offense was to run the ball. Knowing that would be their game plan and being unable to slow it down early is a problem. One that you can rest assured other teams they face will look to exploit the same way the Mountaineers were able to.
