Outlook vs. the Hurricanes

Both teams are coming in with something to prove. Texas A&M football became the laughing stock of college football after being upset by the Mountaineers, so they’re coming in with a chip on their shoulder looking to prove everyone wrong.

Miami has yet to face any real competition yet, and they know that. They want to prove not only to others, but to themselves that they are a top-15 team in the nation. Both teams will be out for blood, and Kyle Field will be rocking.

For one, Van Dyke is fairly inexperienced, especially in a hostile environment. This will be the biggest game of his career so far, so he either has to live up to the hype, or he will falter under pressure. Facing a stout Aggie defense won’t make it any easier.

The biggest issue for A&M is that Miami does have a good run game, which is something they’ve struggled containing so far this season. At least one of these things has to happen for the Aggies to secure this win; they need to get out to an early lead so Miami feels pressure to move the ball down the field and beat them through the air. If they can do this, the Aggies can take advantage of any mistakes made by TVD and create more possessions for themselves.

The other option would be for the defense to step up against the run so that Miami has to beat them through the passing game. This is the less likely option only because they have struggled defending against the run so far, but if this does happen, not only will we feel much better about the defense, but this could make the Hurricane offense one-dimensional.

Overall, there is a formula to get a bounce-back win at home for Texas A&M football. A lot of it does ride on the offense actually getting something going, because if that doesn’t happen, a change of QB is not out of the realm of possibility.
