Texas A&M Football: Evan Stewart, three others will not play vs. Miami
With kickoff just four hours away, there is some unfortunate news for Texas A&M football. Freshmen wide receivers Evan Stewart and Chris Marshall, along with cornerbacks Denver Harris and Smoke Bouie, will not play tonight after violating team rules, according to GigEm247.com.
It is unclear if they will be unavailable for the entire game or just a half, but the four freshmen will not be able to get all the snaps they were supposed to receive. There is not a clear reason for the suspensions as of yet, but there are rumblings that at least three of the players had to do with being out past curfew last night.
This is a huge blow for the Aggies as each of the players have played a decent amount of snaps this year and were expected to be factors in tonight’s game against the Hurricanes. The two biggest losses, Stewart and Harris, both have been playing most of the first two games, logging 97 and 77 snaps respectively.
Stewart has been this team’s WR2 and currently has ten catches for 105 yards. Marshall was a pleasant surprise in Week 1 as he hauled in four catches for 41 yards, but he did not record a catch last week. Harris has been great so far this season as he is graded as the second best cornerback on the team by PFF. Bouie played in Week 1, but was unavailable in Week 2.
This hurts for Texas A&M football as they have a huge matchup tonight. They have a chance to redeem themselves after what happened last week, and it just got significantly more difficult with the losses of two potential starters this week.
