On Saturday, Texas A&M football secured an upset win at home over the Miami Hurricanes, giving them their first ranked win of the season. The Aggies took care of business with a 17-9 victory over the Canes, while also in Max Johnson‘s first start with the team.

When Haynes King had a dud in Week 2 in the loss to Appalachian State, Max Johnson’s name was called by Fisher to start in Week 3. While he didn’t have a fantastic game by any means, he certainly answered the call.

Johnson did a great job of limiting mistakes, not throwing an interception was honestly one of the best parts of his game, and getting the ball to the playmakers; that being Devon Achane and Ainias Smith. Achane led the team in total scrimmage yards while Smith led the team in receiving yards.

After the game, Jimbo Fisher talked to the media and they certainly wanted to know his thoughts on Johnson and his game. Fisher seemed very pleased with how the new starting quarterback played and had this to say on his performance:

"“I’m very confident with him (Max). Again, thought he played some really nice  I can’t way to see the film to see. He got some pressures. He had some really good reads.” – Jimbo Fisher said at the post-win press conference"

Fisher liked what he saw from Johnson and will stick with him until if and when there needs to be another change at the quarterback position. It was great to see, while unsurprising, how electric Kyle Field was during the game, and it most certainly created a hostile environment for the Hurricanes.
