Texas A&M Football: Report card for Week 3 win over the Miami Hurricanes
Defense
Whether or not you want to think that this game could have been different if Miami had their top receiver on the field Saturday, the fact still remains that the Aggies’ defense held a good Hurricane offense to just three field goals for the game. This was a typical bend but don’t break defensive day for Texas A&M who saw Miami have a few chances on their side of the field come up short and settle for three points each time.
The Aggies’ defense, even without having to face Miami’s number one receiver, still gave up 217 yards through the air and 175 yards on the ground for a total of 392 yards on the day. If this team has any hopes of making any noise later in the season this defense is going to have to start living up to the hype.
I’m not saying this defense isn’t good, but with the talent that they have on this roster, they should be doing a better job of handling the run which in turn helps the secondary and stops play action—the most effective play against this Aggies defense so far this season.
