Texas A&M football vs. Arkansas: Razorbacks team preview and prediction
Arkansas football defense preview
If there’s one thing for certain, the Razorbacks know how to get to the quarterback. So far in 2022, Arkansas is leading the entire NCAA in sacks with 17—three ahead of the next highest (USC and Washington State). This relentless pass rush is led by linebacker Drew Sanders and defensive end Jordan Domineck.
Sanders leads the team with 5.5 sacks and Domineck is right behind him with 4.5. Both defenders rank among the top-5 in sacks by individuals, with Sanders sitting second and Domineck landing fourth.
To go along with an elite pass rush, the Hogs also rank very highly in run defense, where they are currently seventh in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game with just 68.3. To go along with that fact, they also only allow 2.23 yards per carry. Its safe to say they’ve had no trouble stopping the run so far.
Now, we get to the bad part of Arkansas’ defense. They rank worst in the league in passing yards allowed. Letting go a whopping 354 passing yards per game will do that to you, and it won’t get any easier for the Razorbacks. Their best defender, star safety Jalen Catalon, will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
To go along with not-so-good coverage skills, the team also is really bad at tackling. So far in 2022, the Hogs have missed a combined 47 tackles, allowing opposing players to gain many of their yards after contact.
