Texas A&M Football Gets A Big Win in the Trenches

Texas A&M football added another impressive piece to the 2024 class. Ashton Funk out of Katy, TX committed yesterday to the Aggies.  Funk has a very impressive haul of offers including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC and 21 other schools. Funk felt it was the best fit as he is a legacy with both of his parents attending A&M. Funk is an 3-Star 88 Ranking on 247 composite and will continue to climb the rankings.

Funk has a massive frame already standing at 6’7 285 pounds. Funk is the 32nd OT in the 247 Composite and the 407th player in the country. Watching his highlights he moves really well for his size and has a big enough frame to add another 30 pounds of muscle. Funk gets off the line and it looks like a wall the way he can create holes for the running game as well as protecting the passer. Funk has shown the ability to pick up the blitzer as well as handling double teams efficiently. He continues to block until the whistle is blown and most of his victims end up being pancaked into the ground.

Funk joins 4-Star DL Dealyn Evans in the 2024 class to keep things rolling for the Aggies. Continuing to add ammunition for the Aggies on the O-Line will be crucial this recruiting period as it seems A&M is running thin with the injuries that are happening. The Fighting Aggies are currently 17th in the country with 2 commits for the 2024 class. This season is absolutely not going the way we are wanting but it is encouraging we are still winning big battles for recruits.
