Word of The Day: Disappointment

There is not much to say after the relatively ugly game vs UMass this past weekend. The only thing that was uglier than this Texas A&M football team’s play was the weather. I do not like to be negative, but it’s going to be pouring out of me this article. The bright side is we finally are back in the win column… The negative side? Seems like a list a mile long.

What I Liked From this Texas A&M Football Team:

Conner Weigman bounced back a little from last week, throwing 11-19 for 191 yards and 1 touchdown. His legs were fantastic too, running for 66 yards on 8 carries. We finally got to see some of the running back depth, and they did a fine job. Le’Veon Moss led the way, racking up 78 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Amari Daniels contributed as well, with 67 yards on 17 carries. Moose Muhammad III lead the way receiving, with 3 receptions for 75 yards. The defense held the Minutemen for 168 yards, which is impressive as well. The defense did its job enough to make up for the offense mistakes. It is never easy for a defense to get back on the field 4 more times after turnovers.

What I Didn’t Like From this Texas A&M Football Team:

The whole game was a nightmare, considering it was still a game before the Aggies scored their final touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Here is a list of teams that scored more points against UMass this season than A&M did: Tulane, Toldeo, Temple, Liberty, Buffalo, New Mexico State, UConn, and Arkansas State… What a list. This game was comical to watch, as we committed 4 turnovers and basically gave UMass every chance to come back in the game.

The offense was stagnant, and did not move the ball effectively. You would hope in a game like this it would be straight bully ball and A&M would just be able to run it down their throats. Yes, this Texas A&M football team did somehow manage to get over 400 yards but in the most non convincing way getting 400 yards. The offensive line also gave up 3 sacks and 7 TFL.

The only knock I have on the defense is the fact that they gave up 113 yards rushing to the Minutemen. This is a Texas A&M football team that should be dominating the trenches and stuffing opposing teams on most plays. Only getting 2 sacks was my only other gripe, but the Aggies added 6 QB hurries, so that isn’t as bad.

Up Next:

The Bayou Tigers are up next in Aggieland at 6:00pm (CST) Saturday on ESPN. What I can hope for is a miracle. #6 LSU seems to progressively get better and better each week under Brian Kelly. A win by the Aggies would be crucial for the offseason momentum… as well as ruining LSU’s chances for a CFP berth.

This disastrous year is almost over and if Jimbo wants fans to have faith next season a win will be needed Saturday. Look out for the preview for the LSU game by Friday. BTHOlsu.
