Devon Achane shines brightly one more time for this Texas A&M Football team

This man has the heart of a lion.  And the speed of a cheetah.  And the strength of an ox.  And the, uh, heroism of… William Wallace.  I’m running out of superlatives to give here, but he deserves all of them.

On a night where he was a game-time decision due to injury according to the broadcast, the Aggies’ star carried the ball 38 times for a total of 215 yards.  That’s 5.7 yards per carry against a team who had averaged allowing almost two full yards less.

I’ll save some more of the numbers for my statistical postmortem post on Monday, but another thing that jumped out to me: only two other teams had exceeded their averages on the ground against LSU this year: Florida and LSU with 105% and 109% of their averages reached, respectively.  The Aggies rushed for 118% of their average YPC against the Tigers: literally the best performance a team has had against the Bayou Bengals all year on the ground.  And it’s because of number 6.

Amari Daniels showed some burst as well on his limited carries, which was very encouraging to see.  Le’Veon Moss saw a couple of snaps as well, though didn’t record any touches.  This evening was all about Achane, however, and he had the entire LSU defense, including all-star freshman and former A&M pledge Harold Perkins, reeling for the entire night.  If this is Achane’s last game in an Aggie uniform, he’s truly given us as fans more than we ever could’ve asked for.
