Jimbo called a great game

Look, before everyone gets upset, I don’t think this changes anything about whether a new OC will be hired (and in short order).  I think the Auburn loss all but sealed that outcome.  But with all the trashing this fanbase does of the offensive game plan for this Texas A&M football team from week to week, I think we also need to acknowledge when a great game plan is put in place.

This was a masterful game plan, full stop.  It helps that the OL finally had a passable game—that position group is the key to making this offense, as with any offense, run smoothly.  But what the coaches had drawn up—all but completely taking Perkins out of the game, exploiting weaknesses up front to create holes for their star RB, and mixing in just enough of Weigman’s arm to make things dangerous—was just perfect.

Jimbo has a penchant for great gameplans in these huge games.  Maybe it’s because in the other games, he believes that his team is good enough to win by keeping things vanilla.  Whatever the case, as I said above, I don’t think anything will get in the way of change on the offensive side of the ball this offseason.  The next few months will decide the direction and future of this program with the hires and changes that will be made.  Despite everything that’s happened, I still have faith in Jimbo to right the ship.
