The 12-5 Texas A&M basketball squad will welcome the Florida Gators to Reed Arena this evening at 6 PM for what is a massive matchup for the Aggies.  The Ags have ripped off six straight victories headed into this game—including one at Florida in which the Aggies uniforms were forgotten in the hotel room before the game—and are hotter than ever.

Florida currently ranks 66th in RPI, and look to be a team on the rise, having won their last three games since their defeat at the hands of the Aggies, including a road win over LSU and a victory over Missouri.  This is obviously an opponent that the Aggies are very familiar with, and, with the excitement around the program building, tonight is a key matchup.

It certainly feels as though the Aggie Hoops squad has found their footing much earlier this season as compared to last, when they suffered an extended losing streak that ended up keeping them out of the big dance.  Led by star underclassman Wade Taylor IV, veteran Tyrece Radford, and key transfers such as Dexter Dennis from Wichita State and Julius Marble from Michigan State, the Buzz Williams culture we’ve heard so much about seems to have taken effect much quicker than in seasons past.

The Aggies have finished seasons strong under Williams after several shaky starts, and with a key stretch coming up that begins with this evening’s game, the Texas A&M Basketball team’s future with regard to the NCAA tournament could be decided sooner rather than later.  After Florida, the Aggies hit the road to see Kentucky and Auburn, return home to host Vanderbilt, and then venture to Fayetteville for a showdown with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
