Texas A&M Football: Dream Non-Conference Matchups
Texas A&M football vs. Oregon
This is one that would have been absolutely massive in the earlier part of the previous decade, and still has the potential to be. The Aggies and Ducks actually had a home-and-home scheduled for 2018 and 2019 at one point, but that eventually got shelved in favor of a series with Clemson for the Aggies and a neutral-site game versus Auburn for Oregon. I think it’s time this series idea gets dusted off, however.
While Jimbo Fisher likely doesn’t remember his last matchup with the Ducks fondly (Oregon steamrolled FSU in the first-ever CFP semifinal by a score of 59-20), I’d bet he’d like another crack at them. The two teams have never actually met before, so this would be a great chance to cross another team off the ledger for each program on that front.
There’s a lot of similarities between the two programs, as well. Texas A&M is one of the flagship college football brands for Adidas, and Oregon is obviously the flagship college football brand for Nike. Both stadiums have a claim on being the loudest in their respective conference and are consistently listed as top environments in the sport. This is another game that both sets of fans would love to see and a matchup that would pull big ratings and sell a lot of tickets.
