Texas A&M Football receives two blue chips on the same day
Texas A&M football received 2 out of state commitments on June 22 in TE Eric Karner and LB Jordan Lockhart. Karner comes from Illinois and Lockhart from California.
Starting off the day, 4 star tight end Erik Karner committed to Texas A&M Football. Karner is listed at 6’ 5”, 220 pounds and is from Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst, Illinois. Karner is a fantastic blocker with good size and body control, and is a great addition to an already loaded tight end room.
Karner committed to the Aggies despite having offers from Iowa, Alabama, Florida, and Michigan state, and he appeared to be leaning towards Iowa, until he took a visit on June 16th. He committed to the Aggies the very next week on the 22nd.
Karner is the 21st ranked tight end, and the 9th overall player out of Illinois. He will finish his high school career at Immaculate Conception where he will play both sides of the ball and has the chance to really improve his stat line before moving to College Station.
The second commit of the day was Jordan Lockhart, a 6’ 3” linebacker out of St. John Bosco High School in Los Angeles; a highly respected program in high school football. There, Lockhart played off the edge, but will get the chance to play Linebacker for his senior season.
Despite his limited experience, Lockhart is a 4 star recruit, ranked as the 31st linebacker in the composite rankings. With more experience at the position, Lockhart could easily move up the ranks. He has been recruited since Texas A&M football’s defensive coordinator DJ Durkin was at Ole Miss, and would do wonders for the linebacker depth if he signs later this cycle.
The Aggies have been doing very well on their official visits, and with the addition of Lockhart and Karner, have jumped up to the 32nd overall rank. The class is loaded with potential and are primed to bring in another great recruiting season.
