Texas A&M Football: Recruiting Strikes Again
Texas A&M football head coach Jimbo Fisher has been striking while the iron is hot recently, receiving 12 commitments in the month of June, and the 5 commitments in the past week. Most recently, it was a commitment from 3 star defensive linemen Gabriel Reliford on June 27th.
Reliford is the 50th rated edge in the class, and the 27th rated player out of Louisiana. He is also ranked the 878th player overall, but is absolutely loaded with potential. He runs track and in March 2023, he ran an impressive 11.79 100 meter time, despite his 6โ2โ, 255 pound frame.

This speed is shown in his game, with a great first first step and chase down speed, he explodes off the line of scrimmage. This allows him to be aย greatย defender against the RPO (run-pass option), as he can break into the backfield easily but use his speed to catch anyone that gets in front of him. Reliford is a hard hitter, isnโt afraid of contact and consistently gets into the backfield as a disruptor.
In his junior season, Reliford recorded 129 tackles, including 27 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 3 fumbles. He has been turning heads as an underrated prospect and committed to the Aggies over Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, while also holding offers from Kansas State, Arizona State, and Baylor.
Reliford attended a Texas A&M football camp on June 16th, and committed 11 days later on June 27th. He marks the 5th commitment over the last 5 days, and the streak doesnโt appear to be over. 4 star wide receiver Dreโlon Miller is set to commit on June 29th, and is trending to the Aggies. Jimbo Fisher has been setting the groundwork and momentum for a great 2024 recruiting class, going into July ranked 21st overall, and possibly even higher with Millerโs commitment.
After starting off slow in the summer of 2022, Fisher is doing his best to make sure it doesnโt happen again.
