4 star athlete Ernest Campbell from Refugio, Texas committed to the Aggies on July 15th, beating out schools like TCU, Nebraska, and Baylor who were very involved in his recruitment. Campbell is the 66th rated receiver in the class, 72nd in the state of Texas, and is ranked 434th overall in the 2024 class.

Campbell is listed at 5’ 8”,150 pounds, but what sets him apart is his speed. Campbell ran a 10.22 100 meter dash to win the Texas Class 2A 100 meter title. For a comparison, former Texas A&M football player and 2023 draft prospect Devon Achane ran a 10.25 second 100 meter in high school, meaning Campbell runs the sprint 0.03 seconds faster while being listed as a wide receiver. Campbell has the opportunity to put together a monster senior season with his speed and elusiveness that can help him fly up the rankings.

Campbell has a very impressive tape, and his speed is extremely impressive to watch. While his main strength is obviously his breakaway speed he also has fantastic route running and exceptional hands. He flies across the field and is great at finding creases in the defensive that he easily slides through. He has great vision and consistently puts himself in a position to score. With his speed and shiftiness, Campbell joins a massive receiver class with big names such as 5 star Cameron Coleman, 4 star Drelon Miller, 4 star Jaylan Hornsby, and 3 star Debron Gatling.
Campbells commitment brings the total commit count up to 18, and puts Texas A&M football at 8th overall, and there could be more on the way. 5 star Terry Bussey has been crystal balled to the Aggies, and could lead to another massive jump in recruiting momentum. Jimbo Fisher has been putting the Aggies in a great position to finish with a top 5 class despite a disappointing season from the 2022 season.
