Texas A&M football head man Jimbo Fisher spoke with the media on Monday ahead of the Aggies’ game against the Miami Hurricanes this weekend. You can see the entire conference below:

Here are some notes from Texas A&M football’s head coach:

Fisher opened by saying it’s great to get a different opponent and play someone other than your own team. He remarked that there were things to improve on in all three phases, but that he was impressed with special teams and like the tenacity. He made reference to the one blocked kick, but said that it will get fixed. Defensively, Fisher said that the Aggies did well fitting runs and tackling well; one run bounced because they had two defenders in one gap, but the defense for Texas A&M football did well overall.

Offensively, Fisher mentioned that the line did a great job giving Conner clean pockets and time to drive the ball, which gave a lot of space to do what you want to do offensively. He praised the OL’s job in communication against the tough scheme UNM brought, how the TEs were involved in blocking, allowing them to get the ball out. Conner was accurate and got the ball to playmakers even when facing blitzes. The Texas A&M football head man also liked what he saw from the run game, mentioning specifically their execution in short yardage. Health up front is big to help with that, and Jimbo liked the performance out of all those players. Fisher mentioned that the receivers did well in not only catching but getting yards after the catch. Overall, he said, it was a good performance, but there’s still things that need to improve.

On the subject of Miami, Jimbo said that Cristobal is a good coach, the Hurricane OL is big and physical, and they have receivers that can make plays. Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke is experienced and capable, DL Leonard Taylor and S Cam Kitchens are standouts, and their transfer linebackers are skilled. They run a system where their secondary brings different looks and pressures. Fisher also remarked that the Hurricanes have an excellent ST unit, with an excellent punter.
