Texas A&M Football and the Miami Hurricanes have had a very balanced history against each other, splitting the series with 2 wins and 2 losses. Here’s how they have shaped up over the years.

The first time the two teams played was in 1944, where Texas A&M football destroyed the Hurricanes 70-14 in the last game of the season. The Aggies ended this season 7-4, and beat the hurricanes behind a 4 touchdown performance from Mann Scott.

The next matchup between Texas A&M and Miami was the first of a home and away series in 2007 and 2008. The Hurricanes won the first game 34-17, with their quarterback Kyle Wright throwing for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Aggie quarterback Stephen McGee threw for 109 yards with 1 interception.

Miami also handled Texas A&M in their next matchup in 2008, with a final score of 41-23. Despite Jerrod Johnson’s 3 touchdowns, the Aggies couldn’t handle Miami’s rushing attack and running back Graig Cooper ran for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Hurricane’s quarterback Robert Marve had his own pair of touchdowns to match, and the Aggies didn’t have an answer.

The Aggies last met the Hurricanes last year, just a game after their infamous loss to App State. Both teams were ranked at the time, with Miami ranked at 13 and Texas A&M at 24. Texas A&M pulled out an ugly 17-9 win, led by Max Johnson at quarterback who threw for 140 yards and a touchdown. Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was held to 217 yards despite throwing 41 times, and the Hurricanes never found their way to the end zone.

This year, the two will meet in a high stakes game not only to break the tie, but to take all the momentum from teams on the rise into the rest of the season. This is a big game for both head coaches, and history says it should be a good matchup to watch this Saturday.
