5 Questions with Canes Warning ahead of Texas A&M Football vs Miami
Ahead of the Texas A&M football team’s matchup with the Miami Hurricanes tomorrow, we here at Gig Em Gazette decided to mosey on over into enemy territory for a quick five questions with the good folks at our sister site, Canes Warning. It’s always good to get an opposing fan’s perspective on the matchup and the other team generally. It’s tempting to view the matchup through maroon-colored glasses as a Texas A&M football fan, but this kind of dialogue can be calibrating. Let’s see what Canes Warning had to say.
Gig Em Gazette: Who is one player on offense and one player on defense that might fly under the radar but that Aggie fans should watch out for?
Canes Warning: “Offensively, the player who could be flying under the radar is wide receiver Jacolby George. George led Miami with seven targets and six receptions for 56 yards verses Miami (Ohio). Xavier Restrepo and Colbie Young receive more publicity at WR. Defensively, could be the linebacker Wesley Bissainthe. Bissainthe was the third LB in the Miami rotation with 13 snaps, but recorded two tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.
Gig Em Gazette: How big of a deal is Tyler Van Dyke’s thumb injury?
Canes Warning: “Mario Cristobal has stated that the thumb injury is a non-issue.”
Gig Em Gazette: What is the biggest factor for Miami to win this game?
Canes Warning: “Winning the line of scrimmage. Since Cristobal was hired, he made winning the line of scrimmage a priority. Miami has significantly improved its offensive line since last season. Defensively, Miami will need to put pressure on Conner Weigman up front and not solely rely on blitzing and leave the cornerbacks on an island.”
Gig Em Gazette: What percentage confidence does the fanbase currently have in Cristobal?
Canes Warning: “A percentage is difficult to gauge. It often depends on the most recent commit or game. Cristobal was criticized early in the 2024 class because many of the commits were three stars. It’s clear in the first two full recruiting under Cristobal that he is methodical in the process. The same goes with building the program on the field. Cristobal is very deliberate and likes to do things in what he considers is the right way. Building the culture is critical for Cristobal.”
Gig Em Gazette: What would a win in this game mean to the program and fanbase?
Canes Warning: “A win on Saturday will go a long way toward helping perception that Cristobal has the program heading in the right direction.”
