College Football Games of Interest for Week 2
As Texas A&M football fans look forward to the hotly anticipated week 2 matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, many are considering how to fill the rest of their college football Saturdays. We’ve got you covered! Below you will find a list for each timeslot of the two (or three!) best games on at each point.
First Shift: 11 AM CT to 2:30 PM CT
First Screen: Nebraska @ Colorado (FOX)
Much intrigue surrounds both of these programs this year, especially following Colorado’s big victory against TCU. Can Deion keep it going against Rhule’s Nebraska squad in his first home game? Don’t know, but I’d enjoy seeing Travis Hunter play some more regardless.
Second Screen: Notre Dame @ NC State (ABC)
The Domers have a pretty easy schedule this year (especially now that Clemson seems like they’re not all that great) but this game will be an interesting road test for the Irish. Sam Hartman is obviously well familiar with this opponent, but strange things can happen up in Raleigh. That’s not even just a comment on football. Weird place.
Second Shift: 2:30 PM CT to 6 PM CT
First Screen: Texas A&M Football @ Miami (ABC)
Obviously.
Second Screen: Ole Miss @ Tulane
If the Green Wave win this one, I’m calling for them to be let back in the SEC. Kick Vandy out in football and keep them as like a baseball-only member or something. I don’t even know that they would notice.
Third Shift: 6 PM CT to 9:30 PM CT
First Screen: Texas @ Alabama (ESPN)
Nothing sweeter than to see the Longhorns humbled. Of course, you also run the risk of accidentally seeing their program get the biggest win they’ve had in 18 years. Do your own cost-benefit analysis there.
Second Screen: Oregon @ Texas Tech (FOX)
This is one of the stranger matchups of the year. I kind of want Tech to be good so they can beat the Horns in their final year in the Big 12, but I also want them to be bad because they’re Tech. I don’t know. This one will probably be entertaining, though!
Late Shift: 9:30 PM CT to Who Knows
First Screen: Auburn @ Cal (ESPN)
What better way to scout the next power opponent for Texas A&M football than a delirious, late-night SEC-ACC (kind of) romp? It has not yet been given to us to know what will transpire during this contest, but we can say one thing with certainty: one way or another, it will be dumb.
Second Screen: Stanford @ Southern Cal (FOX)
No way this is competitive, but on the off-chance it is, it’s worth keeping an eye on. Stanford can only unlock their Super Upset Power once per year, and this might be the time they unveil it. Even if they don’t, you can at least see Zach Branch play.
