As Texas A&M football and Miami’s matchup is one of the most anticipated of the day, the personalities on SEC Nation and College Gameday (including guest picker Joe Namath) made their comments and picks for this big game.

College Gameday picks Texas A&M Football vs Miami

Early in the show, betting analyst Stanford Steve took the Aggies to cover the three-point spread. He specifically made mention that the OL looked good, saying that Petrino gets an A+ for his performance. Because great OLs travel, he took the Aggies minus the points.

Kirk Herbstreit opened by commenting that 5-7 was the mark last year for both teams. He remarked that he had high expectations for Mario last year, and so was more disappointed in the U, but said that Miami needs this win more than anyone in the country. He also made sure to say that Tyler Van Dyke looked good just like Weigman last week. Herbstreit ended up picking A&M to get the win as well.

Desmond Howard spoke about the new DC for Miami, Lance Guidry. He also brought up the pieces from the portal, specifically Purdue transfer Branson Dean, saying that the big defensive lineman will have to hold the point. Howard said he can’t wait to see the chess match between Petrino and Guidry. Desmond’s pick was Petrino to make the difference and A&M to win close.

Joe Namath and Lee Corso both made quick picks, choosing A&M and Miami respectively.

Pat McAfee commented that A&M looked alive on offense last weekend and praised their talent. Petrino, he said, has been there and done that with everything; but the question is whether he can tie it all together? McAfee picked the Aggies as well, also citing Petrino’s influence.

SEC Nation picks Texas A&M Football vs. Miami

After a segment discussing the improved play of Conner Weigman and the Aggie wide receivers, where the hosts specifically highlighted Conner’s aplomb at the position when under duress, the SEC Nation crew gave their picks for the Aggies and Hurricanes. Paul Finebaum started off with a confident pick in A&M, saying he doesn’t believe in Miami. Jordan Rodgers mentioned that this year will be a far different game than last year, given that both teams seem to have much-improved offenses. When it came time to pick, Rodgers opined that it will be A&M winning this one behind a big day from the passing game. Roman Harper, who has taken the yoke upon himself to be the Designated Aggie Hater of the year, reluctantly chose the Aggies, mentioning that Miami lacks explosiveness. The panel closed out with Tebow picking the Aggies as well, though he noted that he was higher on Miami than Finebaum.
