Though Texas A&M football dealt with their own slight lightning delay before the beginning of their game against Miami, it was a different weather delay that will affect most fans’ ability to watch the kickoff of this highly-anticipated contest. Notre Dame and North Carolina State’s earlier game sat in a lightning delay for quite some time, and was only coming up to halftime at around 2:30 CT—its originally-scheduled end time. This game is also airing on ABC, the beginning of the Aggies and Hurricanes’ contest will start on ESPN News until the Irish and Wolfpack finish up.

Aggie fans remember the issues with weather delays at the beginning of last season, with the game against Sam Houston State being most profoundly impacted. The Aggies were largely unaffected by that delay, however. The worry with a delay like this is that your team will have to get their energy back up once they have the waiting period, however short. This kick time is really only about 20 minutes later than it might otherwise have been, however, so hopefully the Aggies come out of the locker room with some juice.

This is a key contest for both teams, as we’ve been writing about on the site all week. Both coming off of 5-7 seasons, this is an out-of-conference matchup that carries huge implications for momentum and perception going forward. The Aggies are the betting favorite coming into the day, though the line moved towards the Canes later in the week—understandably so, as the Aggies haven’t won a true road game since October of 2021. Hopefully they can turn around that statistic today.
