Best Games in College Football Week 3

Saturday is once again almost upon us, my friends. A crisp fall air is beginning to break through the haze of summer (well, unless you live in Texas), and, awash in the cool autumnal breeze, I feel myself smiling ever so slightly as I fondly consider the coming months of watching giant college-aged men run into each other on my television every week. Which continues this Saturday!

College football week 3: the early slate

First Screen: 14 LSU @ Mississippi State (12 ET/11CT, ESPN)
This is the first chance LSU has to prove themselves coming off of a humiliating blowout loss to Florida State. I think LSU can win this one handily—I’ve got Mississippi State as the worst team in the SEC West—but noon games in Starkville can get weird quickly. A loss here would be sure to send the Tigers spiraling.

Second Screen: 15 Kansas State @ Missouri (12 ET/11CT, SECN)
This is one of only three other Power 5 matchups in this noon window, the other two being Florida State at Boston College (noon ET on ABC) and Louisville at Indiana (noon ET on BTN). Of those three, this one seems like it will be the closest, but you never know! Keep an eye on FSU @ BC—seems like the Golden Eagles jump up and bite someone once every like two years or so.

College football week 3: the mid-afternoon slate

First Screen: UL Monroe @ Texas A&M (4 ET/3 CT, SECN)
If you have arrived here via Google and are confused by this choice, please observe the name and main colors of the website you are currently browsing. If you are a regular reader, welcome back! Let’s BTELELCCFTAHOulm.

Second Screen: South Carolina @ 1 UGA (3:30 ET/2:30 CT, CBS)
As a Gamecock Admirer, I will take no pleasure in witnessing the ritual slaughter that is going to take place in Sanford Stadium. North Carolina sacked Spencer Rattler a whopping nine times in the season opener. Heaven only knows what UGA will do to that offensive line.

College Football week 3: the evening slate

First Screen: 11 Tennessee @ Florida (7 ET/6 CT, ESPN)
This is the first time in quite a while that a visiting Tennessee squad has been favored over Florida in the Swamp. Both of these teams have looked somewhat disappointing—okay, Florida has looked really bad—so the result could end up surprising a lot of people

Second Screen: Pitt @ West Virginia (7:30 ET/6:30 CT, ABC)
I was this close to putting BYU @ Arkansas, but I went with the seldom-played rivalry pick. Other interesting games on at this time are Georgia Tech @ Ole Miss (7:30 ET, SECN) and TCU @ Houston (8 ET, FOX).

College Football week 3: the “you have church in the morning” slate

First Screen: Colorado State @ Colorado (10 PM ET/9 PM CT, ESPN)
hey did you guys know that deion coaches for colorado now

Second Screen: Dealer’s Choice
We have a couple of Sicko Specials cooking in UTEP @ Arizona (11 ET, PAC 12 Network) and Kansas @ Nevada (10:30 ET, CBSSN). You also have Arizona State hosting Fresno State at 10:30 ET on FS1 if you feel so inclined.
