Final Thoughts Before Texas A&M Football Takes On the Warhawks

Just like the past two weeks, here are some final thoughts before the game actually kicks off here in about 45 minutes.

  • No big surprise here, but the Aggies’ performance in this game isn’t exactly going to change hearts and minds across the national landscape. Texas A&M football could win 70-0 and it wouldn’t really be more than a blip. They’ve got to prove themselves against a big time name before people start taking them seriously again. They’ll have that chance when Alabama rolls into town on October 7.
  • Regardless, Texas A&M football has a chance to get tuned up for conference play, and that’s an important thing here. I’ll especially be looking at the pass defense today—after what happened in Coral Gables, they need a confidence boost. The scheme we run out against the Warhawks is another thing I’ll be keeping an eye on. Even if we run something similar to what we did last week, that just tells me that the Aggie defensive staff is trying to work out som kinks. I’m choosing to remain optimistic that they’ve learned from their mistakes and won’t use that as the primary coverage against a high-powered passing team again this season. We just don’t have the horses on the back end to sustain that.
  • With Leveon Moss questionable, I’m still wondering if one of these backs will establish themselves or if we’ll stick with the RB-by-committee approach this season. I’d be fine if we do that—each is very talented—but this is a chance for one of these backs to flash against an underrated ULM rush defense.

Some thoughts on other games going on today…

  • I’ve been pretty bad in my predictions about what will happen so far this season in this weekly section, so this is my official declaration that if I get anything wrong, it was because I was trying to jinx it.
  • I think UGA wins big today. Not sure the SC OL can hold up against the Dawgs defensive line.
  • Colorado is going to move to 3-0 pretty easily today. CSU is really bad.
  • I kind of feel like Tennessee is overrated, but I also feel like Florida is really, really bad. I’ve got the Vols winning in this one, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Gators give them some issues.
  • I think sip will take care of business against Wyoming without much issue. Cough jinx cough
