Jimbo Fisher’s Press Conference After Texas A&M Football Beats ULM 47-3

After a resounding victory for his team, the head man for Texas A&M football met with the media. You can see the full video below:

Here are some notes about what the head man said.

Jimbo started off by speaking about how efficiently the team played, noting that the Aggies scored on their first seven drives. He praised the balance that the offense had between the run and the pass, mentioning that they managed things well. Defensively, he thought this Texas A&M football team played well, only giving up one deep ball and a total of 3 points. He was also pleased with Randy Bond’s performance, saying that the kicker hit the FGs well that he attempted. Jimbo noted that the Aggies had the ability to play a lot of different guys, especially noting that the young receivers had a lot of opportunity and mentioning both Moose Muhammad and Jake Johnson

Asked about the absence of his top pass-catching threats, Jimbo remarked that both Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas should be fine., which is a relief to Texas A&M football fans everywhere. Bryce Foster was apparently available but didn’t feel great, so the coaching staff didn’t want to take a chance by putting him in the game. On the subject of the Aggie QB’s deep throw ability, Jimbo answered that Conner’s deep ball has been good, but spent more time speaking about his acumen in the fundamentals of the game. Week over week, Jimbo said, he’s been able to see the signal caller grow in his ability to mentally and physically handle the game, which all makes him much more efficient.

Asked about his stable of backs, Jimbo said he’s a fan of all of them and thinks the committee approach is working. Sometimes a guy will get hot and you need to feed him more, however. Coach Fisher also made sure to mention that each back caught balls out of the backfield well. Given that it’s a physical position, you have to have numbers there. One of the breakout performers in this game was transfer WR Jahdae Walker, who Jimbo said has played well since he’s been at A&M.

Asked what he would want to change about this performance, the Aggie head man said that they could have scored more touchdowns in the red zone, and that he wished the defense hadn’t given up any deep balls. True freshman starter on the offensive line, Chase Bisontis, was helped off before half. When asked about his status, Jimbo downplayed it, saying he just got nicked up but that Crownover was playing so well that the coaching staff were comfortable with keeping him in, mentioning that he has considered Crownover a starter since camp began. He mentioned that the defense did a good job responding after their performance last week and played the RPO and the run well today. He also thought they did a good job controlling the pocket, getting good pressure.
