Texas A&M Football Takes Care of Business Against ULM

I think most fans of the Maroon and White expected this to be a pretty big win over the Warhawks. This was an overmatched opponent coming into the day; evident if only from the Vegas line on this game that favored the Aggies by about 36.5 points. As it turned out, the Aggies exceeded expectations by almost double digits, with the final margin being 44 points.

This was truly a complete domination by the Aggies. Apart from a few plays that the Warhawks hit—such as a long pass in the first quarter—it was hard for them to move the ball at all against this Texas A&M football team until the third-stringers entered the game. This kind of defensive prowess was really good to see coming off of what we witnessed in Coral Gables last week. The Aggie D needed a confidence boost, and this game did well to provide that.

On a day when many top teams were disappointing against lower competition—UGA sleepwalking through much of their game, Alabama slogging through a contest against USF in Tampa, and more—the Aggies looked really sharp on both sides of the ball. They did what they were supposed to do, and that’s more than several teams around the country could say after the day is done.

But the tune-up is done now. This team showed in a loss last week that they weren’t quite ready for the spotlight yet. Will that have changed over the past two weeks? We’ll find out soon.

But for now, let’s see what we can take forward from this one.
