Conner Weigman Continues To Lift this Texas A&M Football Team

I think there are many quarterbacks with which the Aggies could have won this game against ULM. They outclassed them in many areas across the board.

But I’m not sure there’s a quarterback who could have done a better job than Weigman did for this Texas A&M football team. And that’s now three weeks in a row that that has been the case.

Let’s take a look at some of these numbers. Weigman was 25/29—86.2% completion!!—for 337 yards. That’s now two out of three games he has been over 10 yards per attempt, notching a YPA mark of 11.6 for this contest. His QBR was, accordingly, high as well, notching a 97.0 on the day, and even that was likely due to the dearth of actual touchdown passes he threw. Only one of the Aggies’ TDs came on a Weigman pass—though he did add one on the ground himself.

His passing ability was on full display in the first half, with his distribution earning both Jahdae Walker and Ainias Smith 100-yard days before the half was even over. That’s not easy to do! And this brings up another point—Weigman did all this without his top two targets for the whole day. Both Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas missed with injury. So yes, while this was a low-tier secondary that Conner was playing against, the ability to overcome the adversity in the game and still put on this type of performance should not be downplayed. He continues to impress week after week, and I can’t wait to see him in some big-time showdowns as this schedule progresses.

And those chances are coming.
