Texas A&M Football Commit Weston Davis Ranks as 5-Star
As the season rolls on, recruiting services regularly update their rankings of high school prospects—and one Texas A&M football commit has seen a recent rise to coveted 5-star status. Offensive tackle Weston Davis out of Beaumont now occupies the top echelon of recruit rankings per On3 Sports.
Davis was a huge win over LSU, and his announcement came a bit out of the blue back in late June of this year. He had not had an official date set, so the timing of his commitment was anyone’s guess. It was obviously a welcome surprise for Texas A&M football fans, however.
Davis currently headlines a very strong offensive line class for the Aggies in 2024. Blake Ivy, another win over LSU, joins Davis as another highly-rated tackle in the class. Isendre “Papa” Ahfua, out of the same high school as current Aggie interior offensive lineman Mark Nabou, is a stout force at guard. Ashton Funk is one of the more underrated offensive line prospects in the nation, with 247Sports still listing him as unranked—though the Composite rankings have Ashton as a top-200 player. Coen Echols is another find for Fisher, Addazio, and company out of nearby Katy, Texas, and projects as a center at the college level.
This is a high-level five man class that the Aggies have built. Along with receiver and linebacker, this is probably the deepest position group that the Texas A&M football staff has assembled in the current class. There’s a good level of top-end defensive line talent too, of course, and the Aggies have their eye on a couple of highly-rated DBs in Kobe Black and Terry Bussey to go along with current safety commit Jordan Pride. A double-digit win season in 2023 could go a long way towards the Aggies closing out with a stellar class.
