One of the more impressive factors in Texas A&M football’s complete demolishing of ULM this past Saturday is the fact that they accomplished it without two of their best offensive players. Wide receiver Evan Stewart did not dress out for the game, and early in the contest Noah Thomas left with an undisclosed injury. Stewart received a pretty good hit at the end of the Miami game—one that honestly should have been called targeting but was overturned due to the lack of an indicator—and was likely sitting out as a precaution. It is still not known what Noah Thomas is dealing with, but the rumor is that a foot injury is what’s been nagging at him.

Tyreek Chappell and Jardin Gilbert were among the other normal starters that missed the ULM game, and freshman OL Chase Bisontis left before half with an injury as well. When it comes to a game like this, you often conclude that the staff is acting with more caution than they normally might due to the ease of the opponent, but you never know.

Positive News on the Injury Front for Texas A&M football

At his press conference on Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher was asked about the status of the injured players, and his response was a relief to Texas A&M football fans. Fisher reported that all of the players who missed the last game with injury should be good to go for the Auburn game. Given how the 2022 season was riddled with injuries, this is music to the ears of the Maroon and White faithful. Looking at the roster, though, I think we may see a change at the safety spot—Jacoby Matthews has played really well when in for Gilbert the past two games, and may not give that spot back.

UPDATE: Jardin Gilbert has posted to his Instagram story a photo of himself in the hospital, presumably for some kind of surgery. Looks like it will be Jacoby Matthews at that spot for the foreseeable future. Get well soon, Jardin!
