“The Pulse: Texas A&M Football” Recaps ULM Win; Eyes Conference Opener

A weekly tradition during football season, “The Pulse: Texas A&M Football” returns for week 3. This time, the episode recaps a huge win over ULM. You can watch the episode below:

The Aggies dominated the game against the Warhawks, scoring on their first seven drives. Even so, you can see QB Conner Weigman spurring the offense on, even at half when the game was well in hand. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: he’s a leader at the quarterback position that this program hasn’t had for quite some time.

We have an early season contender for the best moment of the Pulse’s season, which occurred directly following freshman RB Rueben Owens’s first career touchdown. Jimbo gestured him over on the sideline, in the midst of his teammates congratulating him, places his hand on his helmet, and says in a very serious tone, “That’s how you know we love you. Because you miss that pass protection, and we still give it to you!” before laughing and sending Owens back off to celebrate. This is beside the point, but I can’t help but feel a moment like that is an indirect example of the benefit of Jimbo not calling plays anymore—with less game planning of that nature to do on the sideline, he’s free to talk more to the players and take the temperature of things.

The episode closes with a preview of SEC play, showing interviews with players and coaches talking about how different things get once the conference slate begins. It sounds like this group is ready—and I know I sure am ready to see it. BTHOauburn!
