3 Lessons From Texas A&M Football Destroying Arkansas

This, like last week, is another game that—were you not actually watching this Texas A&M football team—you might think went a lot differently than it actually did by merely checking the score. There are a lot of reasons for that, chief among them another horrid showing by the referees (which we will get into shortly), but overall this was a dominant showing. The Aggies more than doubled up the Hogs in yardage, even after the 48-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

I had to check, but this is also the most points that a Jimbo-led team has ever scored against Arkansas in Jerryworld. In 2020, the Aggies put up 42 on the Hogs, but that game was at Kyle Field due to all the strangeness of the COVID season. Yes, that does entail a defensive and special teams score, but they were simply picking up the slack for the offense, who moved the ball but had issues at inopportune times, including a couple of injuries to star receiver Evan Stewart.

One thing I loved today was the offensive line. The much-maligned Aggie front did not give up a single sack to an Arkansas defense that was averaging three per game coming into the afternoon. Additionally, they moved the ball well on the ground, to the tune of 5.2 yards per carry when all is said and done. It was a balanced offensive attack for the Aggies that did the trick—210 yards passing and 204 rushing were the totals for this Texas A&M football team. There’s a lot of improvement to be had, but these were all bright spots. All that said, let’s see what we can take forward from this game.
