Texas A&M Football: Defensive Grades

Defensive Line: A+
I don’t think much more needs to be said about this one. This was yet another absolutely unbelievable showing from the defensive front. Seven sacks and fifteen TFLs in two straight weeks is not only uncanny in the regard of recording the same numbers twice in a row, but also with how insanely prolific those numbers are. The Hogs averaged 1.1 yards per carry. That’s crazy.

Linebackers: A+
The LB group for this Texas A&M football team deserves their flowers as well. Chris Russell with a defensive score to help put the game out of reach was huge, but Edgerrin Cooper and Taurean York were the real stars. Cooper led the team with 2 sacks and 3 TFLs himself (Nolen also had 3 TFLs). York just goes out there and takes care of business. I’m loving what I’m seeing out of him.

Defensive Backs: A-
Apart from a few choice plays, the Aggie DBs really had a solid day. The 38-yard screen pass to Rocket Sanders showcased some poor tackling, and DeBerry got burned on that garbage time touchdown, but the high-quality coverage throughout the day helped slow down Jefferson’s decision making and aided that huge TFL number that the defense put up.
