College Football Week 6 Viewing Guide

We’ve got another loaded weekend coming up here in college football week 6. Plenty of action across all conferences—highlighted, of course, by the Aggies taking on Alabama. But what other games are on on this weekend? Let’s take a look at the best games on in each time slot.

College Football Week 6 – The Early Slate

First Screen: 23 LSU @ 21 Missouri (12 PM ET/11 AM CT, ESPN)
A showdown between two of the three SEC Tiger teams up in the far less southeastern of the two SEC Columbias. There’s a lot on the line for LSU here: a loss puts them at 3-3 on the season with much of their conference slate still yet to be played, including a trip to Alabama and hosting the Aggies. Missouri, for their part, has one of the best receivers in the nation in Luther Burden facing off against a terrible LSU secondary. This one could turn into a pretty fun shootout.

Second Screen: Maryland @ 4 Ohio State (12 PM ET/11 AM CT, FOX)
Maryland has yet to defeat the Buckeyes in eight tries. OSU has a great defense this year and an offense that has yet to truly impress. The Terps defense could be a remedy for that; and, if Mike Locksley has his way, the Bucks will have to put up a big number on offense to keep up in this one.

College Football Week 6 – The Afternoon Slate

First Screen: 11 Alabama @ Texas A&M (3:30 PM ET/2:30 PM CT, CBS)
This, in addition to being the premier matchup of the weekend, promises to be one of the most hotly contested and consequential. You can’t help but feel that this is a de facto SEC West championship game, though it is only the third conference game for either team. The winner will be firmly in the driver’s seat of the division race.

Second Screen: Virginia Tech @ 5 Florida State (3:30 PM ET/2:30 PM CT, ABC)
Florida State badly needs a convincing win. The week 1 victory against LSU, though viewed as extremely consequential at the time, continues to decline in perception as the Seminoles have close call after close call. This won’t be an extremely tough test, but a big win here could help justify their lofty ranking.

College Football Week 6 – The Evening Slate

First Screen: 20 Kentucky @ 1 Georgia (7 PM ET/6 PM CT, ESPN)
Was last week a wakeup call for the Bulldogs? Close games against both South Carolina and Auburn seem to suggest the ultra-talented squad in Athens is sleepwalking a bit through the early part of their schedule, and Kentucky is doubtless hungry for a win that would be program-changing. Unluckily for Big Blue, they are completely unable to throw the ball, so UGA should win this one easily.

Second Screen: 10 Notre Dame @ 25 Louisville (7:30 PM ET/6:30 PM CT, ABC)
One thing every college football fan has been asking since the season kicked off is whether Louisville is better than Duke. We finally get our answer in this game. Also both teams are ranked!
