“The Pulse: Texas A&M Football” Episode 6

The weekly episode of “The Pulse: Texas A&M Football” has dropped. I know people have their thoughts on whether or not they watch following a loss, but hear me out.

Taurean York Episode.

That’s right, Texas A&M football fans: the episode we all hoped to see and have been expecting for a while has come. Taurean York is one of the best stories on the team this year; an undersized freshman LB who was offered during his final week of his high school career, now a starter for this Texas A&M football team—not to mention a midseason all-American—York instantly captured the hearts of the Aggie faithful everywhere when a clip of an emotional interview following his signing day ceremony made the social media rounds this past winter. This episode recaps his story, highlights the comparison between him and another great yet undersized Aggie linebacker of days gone by, Dat Nguyen.

The episode also highlights the insane line for ticket pull and the great support the 12th Man has lent all season and especially for this past game. Watching back a lot of the highlights from this game, you really remember just how close things were. That moment right after halftime where the Aggies were up by seven and Bryce Anderson came down with the interception had a chance to be so big in the game, but after Max threw his own pick, things just came unraveled. The Aggie offense never recovered after that moment, despite the defense putting forth a mighty effort and keeping the Tide offense in check for most of the rest of the afternoon. In the end, as the title of the episode suggests, it was the inches that lost this game; not taking advantage of the plays on the margins.

This is an extremely talented Aggie team with huge potential. There is still so much they can do the rest of this year. I came away from this episode with a feeling of lost opportunity, yes, but also encouraged about the team going forward.
