Texas A&M football squares off with the Gamecocks

The highly anticipated battle between Texas A&M football and their most hated rival in the South Carolina Gamecocks has a game time set. The Maroon and White faithful, not to mention the denizens of the Palmetto State’s capitol, can begin to count down the hours until this fateful matchup finally kicks off at 11 AM. That’s central time, by the way—God’s time zone. Those who bear the accursed standard of Garnet and Black in the sullen and lonely places of the world (eastern time zone) will have to wait all the way until noon to see their favorite team devoured alive in the confines of Kyle Field.

This series is renewed following the first ever win for South Carolina last year, a 30-24 game that saw Conner Weigman get his first-ever game action for Texas A&M football. It began poorly enough for Texas A&M football, with Xavier Legette—who has been an absolute monster for the Gamecocks this year—returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown right off the bat. That ended up as the difference in the game, and therefore, in a way, the entire season, as this was when things really began to go off the rails for Texas A&M football. The Aggies were coming off a bye week after coming two yards from defeating Alabama the week prior, and so there were whispers of “if we could just win out…” still alive and well in the fanbase. Following this, the four freshmen who ended up transferring were all suspended; your only QB with any experience was done for the year; and the season began to spiral towards a losing record.

Hopefully this game portends different things for Texas A&M football!
