Texas A&M football recruiting takes a blow

With the recent disappointment in and tumult around Texas A&M football, it felt inevitable to a lot of fans that there would be some repercussions on the recruiting front. Some whispers began to emerge surrounding one of the top Aggie commits a couple of days ago, and now those whispers have come to fruition. Dre’Lon Miller, a top-100 wide receiver, posted this on his Twitter account earlier this evening.

It is no secret that LSU has been working on Miller ever since he committed to Texas A&M football back in the summertime. The Aggies have been eating LSU’s lunch on the trail this cycle for the most part, so a key win was desperately needed by the Tigers. They clearly identified Miller as one of the pieces most likely to be affected by the recent turn on the field for the Aggies and turned up the pressure on him.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened between the Aggies and Tigers in recent memory. During the 2023 recruiting cycle, LSU tried to get their foot in the door with ATH Bravion Rogers, who had been committed to the Aggies for a couple of months. Bravion went as far as decommitting from Texas A&M football, but eventually jumped back on board later on in the cycle. If there’s one thing I don’t worry about at all with this Texas A&M football staff, it’s recruiting. They’ve shown their ability to play the long game and get guys back in the boat even after they step back from a verbal pledge or trend elsewhere.

Things will be harder, though, if Miller ends up actually committing to the Tigers. This also sheds even more light on how vital it is for the Aggies to get things figured out during the back half of the season—and adds a new dimension to the impending LSU-A&M matchup on Thanksgiving weekend.
