Previewing the Upcoming Opponent for Texas A&M Football

There is no shortage of storylines coming into this game for Texas A&M football. The Aggies are seeking a turnaround here in the last part of their season after faltering against Miami, Alabama, and Tennessee, not to mention losing their extremely talented quarterback. To do so, though, they’ll have to (likely) twice do something they’ve never done before under Jimbo: win a road game against a ranked team. the teams they’ll be playing are no slouches, either: Ole Miss and LSU both boast high-powered offenses that many teams have had a tough time slowing down.

This weekend is especially pivotal, too, as this really is a team that the Aggies should beat. When you look at pure talent level, Texas A&M football blows the Rebels out of the water, but they’ve been unable to execute at that level the past two years; in 2021, it was due to the disparity in quarterback play, while in 2022, it was due to a porous run defense. This game, therefore, holds an opportunity in more ways than one: if you win on Saturday, you not only break the road loss streak, but you roll into LSU at (in all likelihood) 8-3 ready for a showdown with the Tigers who will also likely have that same record.

Additionally, this would give you scoreboard over the Rebels for the next two years, as the Aggies and Ole Miss do not face off in 2024 with how the SEC schedule has turned out. With a loudmouth like Kiffin at the helm of the program, this would be a sweet result indeed for the Maroon and White faithful, who have had to be subject to his ham-fisted attempts at shade towards the Aggies for the past two years.

So how likely is it that the Aggies come out of this one with a W? How do the two teams match up? Let’s take a look.
