Recapping Texas A&M Football Loss to Rebs

Texas A&M football won the toss and deferred, so the Rebels would take the ball first. A deep shot on first down resulted in a flag on Jayvon Thomas, starting in place of Tyreek Chappell, moving the Rebels out to the 40. A short gain on the ground was followed by a short gain through the air, and the Rebels faced third and four just behind midfield. A toss play on third was blown up in the backfield by Demani Richardson, forcing the Rebels to punt. Ainias received the punt at the 15 to bring out the Aggie offense.

A slant to Jahdae Walker picked up 19 yards on the first Aggie play. A handoff to Owens went of a loss of 1 on the ensuing play, and a short pass to Owens went for no gain on second. Another short pass to a back was the call on third, and Amari Daniels was taken down for no gain. The Aggies punted on fourth down, and Texas A&M football fans were relieved to see Constantinou hit a booming kick that took the Rebels down to their 20.

An incomplete pass on first was followed by a slant that converted on second for the Rebs. Dart, under pressure by Shemar Stewart, threw a duck of a pass that was almost intercepted on the ensuing play, and the pass on second was also under pressure, falling incomplete. A completion to the tight end left the Rebs a half-yard shy, bringing up fourth down. The Rebels converted on the short yardage, though. Two quick five yard passes converted another first down, but a rush attempt on the ensuing first was blown up by McKinnley Jackson. A deep pass was perfectly placed by Dart on second down, and the Rebels were inside the red zone. One play later, they were in the end zone on a handoff to Quinshon Judkins, making the score 7-0 Rebels.

A false start kicked off the next Aggie drive to bring up 1st and 15. A handoff to Ainias Smith cured that, though, picking up 11 yards to bring up 2nd and 4. A pressured Max Johnson completed a pass to Noah Thomas on 2nd to pick up the first, but an I-formation handoff on first yielded nothing on the next play. A screen pass was set up well on second, but the blockers decided to fall asleep and the Rebs allowed a minimal gain. Texas A&M football was forced to call timeout after inattention to the play clock, and committed another false start on the ensuing play. Max delivered an on-target pass on third down, but Noah Thomas dropped it, bringing up 4th down. The Rebels would take over at their own 22.

A toss play on the first play of the drive lost a yard after a great play by Josh DeBerry, and Dart was sacked on second down by a bunch of Aggies. A third-down incompletion by Dart brought up 4th and 16. The Rebels punted, and Texas A&M football would start at their own 44.

Max threw a four-yard pass to Jake Johnson on first before keeping it on a read option on second down, bringing up 3rd and a long yard. A QB sneak was successful on third, and the Aggies had converted the first third down of the day for either team. Max was heavily pressured on the ensuing play and threw the ball up for grabs, but a heady play by Ainias Smith caused the ball to be knocked down. A short handoff to Rueben Owens picked up about 2, and the Ags were again in third and long. A pass to the back in the flat again picked up minimal yardage, and the Aggies, just outside field goal range, would punt. Ainias got right under it, and downed it at the five.

A handoff to Judkins on first down picked up about four, and another, similar play picked up 1 yard on second. That brought the first quarter to an end, with the Aggies trailing by a touchdown.
