Texas A&M Football Coach Playing Mind Games?

Rumors are swirling about the availability of Max Johnson for Texas A&M football ahead of the game against Mississippi State. If he were unable to go, the consensus is that the Aggies would opt to start Fresno State transfer Jaylen Henderson at signal caller. Texas A&M football fans have thus been waiting with bated breath to see whether Johnson would be coming out for warmups with the rest of the team. The word is that Johnson has suffered a rib injury (though this hasn’t been confirmed as of the time of writing), so whether or not he warms up throwing the ball would seem to be a good indication of if he is indeed injured in this way.

Ahead of the game, as the team came out for warmups, a quarterback came out on the field wearing #14, throwing left handed. The only thing was that… this did not appear to be Max Johnson.

Is Jimbo… trying to fool the Bulldogs? Does he think that he can roll out a lefty wearing the same number as Johnson to throw State off the scent? If so… then I kind of love it? This is extremely stupid, but it’s the kind of extremely stupid that might work. And it is therefore genius.

The real answer is probably much more mundane than this. In all likelihood, this is backup quarterback Blake Bost, who is a lefty and wore 14 up until the time when Max transferred in. Bost has been wearing a different number, but may just have taken the 14 warmup back if Johnson is out for this one.

Still, though, this is pretty hilarious. This kind of thing can only happen in college football. Hopefully not-Johnson can get things done tonight against the Bulldogs!
